10 Jun 2008 - Expansion News

Last Wednesday evening, there was a meeting in school. The meeting was arranged so that everyone had the opportunity to look at the plans for management of the school site during the building work. There were not many people at the meeting, but there was a lot of information given and so we have summarised the main points.

The main things to be aware of are:

Work will start on the school field and the Key Stage 2 yard on 16th June. Access to this area will be by a road, which will be built around the Key Stage 1 play area. From Monday 16th June, the Roe Lane entrance will not be used and the gate will remain locked until September. The recycling bins will be moved from Roe Lane community centre to the Academy up the road.

Work will start on the MUGA to enable it to be completed for Setember. We have hit a slight snag, we have a bit of a problem with Japanese Knotweed and this has to be thoroughly removed before the site can be developed. You can find out more about JK by visiting the following site:

Kier came in to school yesterday with their mascot Kieran, they held an assembly for all the children. They are running a colouring competition and your child will be bringing home details, the winner will be involved in the sod cutting ceremony in July!

Keir will be putting an information boad on site to keep you better informed. There is a great 3D virtual model of the new building, which wer can show on the whiteboard at the coffee morning this week!
